Wide receiver Victor Cruz, who leads the New York Giants with 73 receptions for 998 yards this season, will miss the final two games of the year after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
The National Football League team listed Cruz as out for this weekend’s game at the Detroit Lions, and team spokesman Pat Hanlon told reporters that Cruz won’t play in the Giants’ season finale against the Washington Redskins on Dec. 29.
Cruz, 27, who fell two yards short of his third straight 1,000-yard season, had four touchdown catches this year.
Cruz hurt his knee Dec. 15 in a 23-0 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks when he jumped to catch a pass and landed hard on his head. He also suffered a concussion on the play.
The Giants (5-9) have been eliminated from any chance of making the playoffs.
