Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- First Niagara Financial Group Inc., the Buffalo, New York-based regional bank, named Gary M. Crosby president and chief executive officer effective immediately.
Crosby, 60, has been interim CEO and president since March, the company said today in a statement. Crosby took over the top job at First Niagara earlier this year after John R. Koelmel stepped down.
“Gary’s wide range of experience, his relationships inside and outside the company, and his demonstrated ability to deliver solid operating results make him the best person for the position,” Chairman G. Thomas Bowers said in the statement.
Crosby was previously the bank’s chief administrative and operating officer. Before joining First Niagara, he served as chief financial officer for the Buffalo City School District, according to a regulatory filing.
