EU’s De Gucht Wins Ruling Dismissing Tax Case, Belga Reports

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- European Union Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht and his spouse won a court ruling dismissing the tax-fraud case brought against him by Belgian fiscal authorities, Belga news agency reported.

Belgium’s fiscal authorities didn’t have sufficient reasons to seek access to the couple’s bank accounts, the Ghent appeals court ruled today, making all data obtained during that search useless in court, according to Belga.
