Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Balfour Beatty Plc, Britain’s biggest construction company, said a joint venture won a 121 million-pound ($200 million) contract to build a training college and student housing for the U.K. Ministry of Defense.
The Defence College of Technical Training at a former airbase in Wiltshire, England, will accommodate more than 1,100 trainees and 800 staff from the British army, navy and air force, Balfour Beatty said in a statement. The London-based builder and U.K. counterpart Kier Construction Ltd. will work in a 50-50 partnership on the project, it said.
U.K. military-infrastructure projects that Balfour Beatty has completed in the past five years have totaled 500 million pounds, the company said. Construction on the new contract will begin in early 2014 and is due for completion in late 2015.
