Dec. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Emerging-markets stocks rose for the first time in four days, led by a rally in energy and materials stocks.
The MSCI Emerging Markets Index added 0.2 percent to 997.36 at 12:23 p.m. in London. Benchmark gauges in India and South Africa climbed more than 1 percent and Brazil’s Ibovespa index added 0.6 percent.
Petroleo Brasileiro SA, Brazil’s state-controlled oil producer, climbed 1.7 percent.
