Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Tokyo Electric Power Co., the world’s largest power utility, is seeking to buy three spot cargoes of liquefied natural gas for delivery in January and February, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.
Tepco, as the company is known, is purchasing one January shipment and two for February to prepare for winter, said the people who asked not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak to the media.
Asian LNG buyers typically import spot LNG cargoes from December to March to meet peak heating and power demand during the northern hemisphere winter.
