Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Aqua America Inc., the second-biggest U.S. water utility by market value, bought six water and wastewater systems in Illinois and Virginia, bringing its 2013 acquisitions to 15.
The utility’s Illinois subsidiary spent $560,000 for three water and two wastewater systems while its Virginia subsidiary purchased a water one for $28,000, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania-based Aqua America said today in a statement.
Aqua America completed 18 acquisitions last year. American Water Works Co. is the largest publicly traded U.S. water utility.
