Nov. 25 (Bloomberg) -- NTPC Ltd., India’s largest electricity generator, is seeking 7.25 million metric tons of imported steam coal for 14 thermal power plants across the country, tender documents posted on the company’s website show.
Offers have to be made by Dec. 18, while the due date for price bids will be set later, according to the documents.
The state-run company, which may import 17 million tons of thermal coal in the year ending March 31, plans to cut its dependence on overseas supplies to 13 million tons by 2017, chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said in July.
