EQT Names Koch Managing Partner, Jonsson as Chairman

Nov. 19 (Bloomberg) -- EQT Partners AB, the private-equity firm partly owned by the Wallenberg family’s publicly traded holding company Investor AB, named Thomas von Koch as its managing partner.

Koch, 47, an EQT co-founder, will start his new position on March 1, Stockholm-based EQT said in a statement today. The current managing partner and chairman, Conni Jonsson, will remain chairman and work full time on investment advisory activities and dealing with investors, the firm said.

“EQT has grown tremendously, and we need to make sure we strengthen our management structure accordingly,” Jonsson said in the statement.

Since its founding in 1994, EQT has raised 20 billion euros ($27 billion) in 15 funds, made 110 investments and 60 exits and seen an average annual sales growth of 11 percent at its portfolio companies during its ownership, according to its website. The companies it owns include Sweden’s AcadeMedia AB and Scandic Hotels AB, Denmark’s ISS A/S and Norway’s BroadNet Norge AS. Together its companies have 550,000 employees and sales of more than 25 billion euros, according to EQT.

Koch’s deals at EQT have included Swedish cable company Com Hem AB, investment bank KBW LLC and dialysis maker Gambro AB.
