Titanic Band Leader’s Violin Fetches $1.46m at Auction, BBC Says

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- A violin reputedly played by the bandmaster on the Titanic as the liner sank has been sold for 900,000 pounds ($1.46m) at auction in Wiltshire, south England, today, the BBC reported.

The instrument, which is believed to have been played by Wallace Hartley, had a guide price of 300,000 pounds.
