Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.’s mutual-funds business hired Chris Poe, a former managing director at BlackRock Inc., as head of brand and advertising.
Poe, 49, most recently worked as an independent brand and communications strategist in New York, Hartford said today in a statement. He will report to Marty Swanson, chief marketing officer at Radnor, Pennsylvania-based Hartford Funds, and will oversee a team of six.
“Chris will be instrumental in further defining our brand both internally and externally, as Hartford Funds continues to grow in the industry,” Swanson said in the statement.
Hartford retreated from life insurance and annuities in the U.S. and Japan to reduce risk from interest-rate fluctuations. The insurer currently focuses on property and casualty coverage, mutual funds and group benefits.
Poe was a managing director and head of global brand and advertising at BlackRock, Hartford said. He has also worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Hartford Funds, founded in 1996, had total assets under management of $89.5 billion as of June 30.
