JFE Holdings Inc.’s engineering unit will build a 49-megawatt biomass plant for Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. south of Tokyo in Kanagawa prefecture.
JFE Engineering Corp. won an order for engineering, procurement and construction of the plant to be operational in December 2015, the company said in a statement today. No financial terms were disclosed.
The 16 billion yen ($165 million) plant will use woody biomass and palm kernel shells as fuel, Showa Shell said in August when it announced the project.
