Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Bayern Munich beat CSKA Moscow 3-0 on the opening night of soccer’s Champions League, while Real Madrid routed Galatasaray 6-1.
David Alaba, Mario Mandzukic and Arjen Robben scored for Bayern, which is looking to become the first team since AC Milan in 1990 to defend its title in Europe’s elite club competition. Three goals from Cristiano Ronaldo led record nine-time champion Real Madrid.
Manchester United beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-2, Manchester City defeated Viktoria Plzen 3-0 and Paris Saint-Germain beat Olympiacos 4-1. Benfica defeated Anderlecht 2-0, Shakhtar Donetsk won 2-0 at Real Sociedad and Copenhagen drew 1-1 with Juventus at home.
