Liquid Ammonia Leak Kills 15 at Shanghai Cold Storage Facility

Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- A liquid ammonia leak at a refrigeration unit in Shanghai killed at least 15 people and injured 26 or more, the municipal government said.

The accident took place at about 11 a.m. at Shanghai Weng’s Cold Storage Industrial Co. in the Baoshan district, the city said on its official Sina Weibo microblog.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which has left six people hospitalized in critical condition, according to the statement.
