Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- England beat Australia by 27 runs to gain a draw in their two-match Twenty20 cricket series.
Alex Hales scored 94 as host England reached 195-5 after being put into bat at Chester-le-Street. Fawad Ahmed claimed his first international wickets for Australia, taking 3-25.
The visitors then finished 168-9 in reply with David Warner scoring 53. Jade Dernbach took 3-23 for England.
Australia won the opening game of the series by 39 runs after England took the Ashes Test series 3-0. The teams open a five-game one-day series on Sept. 6 in Leeds.
