Updates attendance at prayer service for Kinara Patel in sixth paragraph.

Police are investigating the death of a student at the Villanova School of Business who was found dead in a dorm room Thursday morning, just three days after the start of the fall semester.

Kinara Patel, 18, was unresponsive when police arrived at Sullivan Hall following a 911 call shortly before 10 a.m., according to Lt. Andy Block of the Radnor Township police. Patel was out with friends the night before and returned in the overnight hours, Block said, adding that there were no indications of suicide. It’s unclear if alcohol was involved.

Patel lived in another dorm on campus, Block said, and the room in Sullivan Hall where she was found belongs to a friend. “There is no evidence of foul play at this time,” the police officer added.

The Delaware County coroner is expected to conduct an autopsy Friday morning, but a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office said the results would not be available until later this afternoon.

Police said Patel is from northern New Jersey. An ABC affiliate in Philadelphia reported that she is a native of Hackensack, where she attended high school at the Bergen County Academies before coming to Villanova.

The university made the school’s counseling staff available to students and held a prayer service Thursday night at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on campus, which was attended by more than 600 students and faculty.
