Aug. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Arsenal defeated Fenerbahce 2-0 to advance to the group stage of soccer’s Champions League.
Aaron Ramsey scored both goals at the Emirates Stadium in north London as Arsenal completed a 5-0 victory in the two-game playoff. The Gunners move into the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition for the 16th straight season.
Basel advanced 6-2 over Ludogorets on aggregate following a 2-0 home win, while Schalke’s 3-2 victory over PAOK gave it a 4-3 series win. Austria Vienna lost 3-2 to Dinamo Zagreb but still advanced by a 4-3 total score, and Steaua Bucharest eliminated Legia Warsaw on the away-goals rule after a 3-3 draw in Poland left the teams tied 5-5.
