BlackRock Inc., the world’s biggest money manager, hired Nick Moore, formerly head of commodity research at Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc, as managing director and commodity strategist.
Moore joined this month and reports to Evy Hambro, chief investment officer of the natural-resources equity team, BlackRock said in an e-mail today. Moore, who is based in London and has covered raw materials for 30 years, is responsible for fundamental commodity analysis for BlackRock.
The natural-resources team managed about $23.1 billion of assets as of the end of July, according to New York-based BlackRock. The company’s flagship $7.4 billion World Mining Fund gained 8.5 percent last month, narrowing the decline in 2013 to 23 percent.
