Mike Miller Rejoins Grizzlies After Three Years With NBA’s Heat

Mike Miller rejoined the Memphis Grizzlies after winning two National Basketball Association titles with the Miami Heat, returning to the franchise where he holds records for 3-pointers made and 3-point shooting percentage.

Miller, 33, has made 40.6 percent of his 3-point attempts over 13 NBA seasons and ranks 14th among active players in career 3-pointers. He played just over five seasons with the Grizzlies from 2002 to 2008.

Contract terms weren’t disclosed.

“We are extraordinarily pleased to welcome Mike Miller back to Memphis,” Grizzlies Chief Executive Jason Levien said today in a statement. “Mike is an elite 3-point shooter, as Grizzlies fans know first-hand, and we expect his shooting, playmaking, hustle and leadership to be a key component in our team competing with the best in the NBA next season.”

The 6-foot-8 Miller helped the Heat reach the NBA Finals the last three seasons and win championships in 2012 and 2013. He scored 23 points and went 7-of-8 from 3-point range against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the title-clinching Game 5 of the 2012 NBA Finals.

Miller holds Memphis career records for 3-point field goal percentage (.415), and 3-point field goals made (737) and attempted (1,778). He also holds the single-season franchise record for 3-point percentage (.433 in 2004-05) and 3-pointers made and attempted (202 and 498 in 2006-07).

Miller averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game with the Grizzlies.
