Tata Power Plans 28.8 Megawatt Solar Power Plant in India

July 22 (Bloomberg) -- Tata Power Co., the generation business of India’s largest industrial group, will double its solar power capacity this year to about 60 megawatts after completing its biggest project to date.

The company expects to finish a 28.8-megawatt photovoltaic plant in Satara, Maharashtra state by December that will help it comply with government-mandated renewable energy targets, it said in a statement today on its website.

Tata Power plans to add 50 megawatts of solar capacity every year, according to the statement. It has 30 megawatts in operation, including a 25-megawatt plant in Mithapur, Gujarat state.
