July 8 (Bloomberg) -- President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to award billionaire Alisher Usmanov the Order for Service to the Fatherland, Russia’s highest civil award, according to a statement on the government’s website.

Usmanov, who turns 60 in September, was given a IV class order in recognition of his “services to the state, as well as his community and charitable activities.”

Usmanov is Russia’s richest man with a fortune of nearly $19 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His main assets include stakes in Russia’s largest iron ore producer, Metalloinvest, and OAO Megafon, the country’s second-largest mobile phone operator. He also has holdings in Facebook Inc. and Apple Inc.
