June 21 (Bloomberg) -- Solexel Inc., a closely held U.S. solar-panel maker that’s backed by SunPower Corp., received $14.7 million in equity investments from 12 backers, according to a filing.
The company, based in Milpitas, California, didn’t name the investors in a document filed today with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Solexel listed directors from SunPower and Intel Corp. as well as venture capital companies Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Technology Partners and DAG Ventures.
Mark Kerstens, Solexel’s chief financial officer, didn’t immediately return phone and e-mail messages today seeking comment about the funding.
SunPower invested in Solexel last year.
