Ridout, Cadel Evans Among Australians in Queen’s Birthday Honors

Reserve Bank of Australia board member Heather Ridout, 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans and MotoGP champion Casey Stoner are among Australians named in the Queen’s Birthday Honors List announced today.

Ridout was recognized for her contribution to the development of economic and public policy, according to a list published by the Governor General of Australia, Quentin Bryce. Evans was named for his service to cycling and Stoner for service to motorcycle racing.

Elizabeth Bryan, chairwoman of Caltex Australia Ltd., was also honored. The Australian honors system includes 55 awards and is designed for the community to make nominations, according to information on a federal website.

Ridout, the former head of the Australian Industry Group, last year became the fourth woman to serve on the RBA board. Evans was the Tour de France’s first winner from the southern hemisphere.
