April 29 (Bloomberg) -- Christian Weideman, the U.S. Treasury Department’s deputy general counsel, has been named chief of staff to Secretary Jacob J. Lew, a department official said today.
Weideman will replace Mark Patterson, who was chief of staff under former Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and has remained on during Lew’s transition. Patterson will remain at the Treasury until late May.
Weideman is a former associate counsel to President Barack Obama and has worked at law firm Williams & Connolly LLP.
Lew took office as secretary on Feb. 28.
