April 17 (Bloomberg) -- The National Hockey League is preparing to hold six outdoor games next season including the Winter Classic planned for New Year’s Day between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings at Michigan Stadium, TSN in Canada reported.
The games, subject to contracts being completed, will be held after the annual Jan. 1 Winter Classic, TSN said on its website.
The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings would play at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25; the New York Rangers would face the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils in separate games on Jan. 26 and Jan. 29 at Yankee Stadium; the Pittsburgh Penguins would take on the Chicago Blackhawks at Soldier Field on March 1; and the Ottawa Senators would play the Vancouver Canucks at B.C. Place Stadium on March 2, TSN said. The games in New York would be the week before the Super Bowl, which is Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
