April 15 (Bloomberg) -- Azerbaijan cut oil production in the first quarter by 4.4 percent to 10.8 million metric tons.
Production of marketable natural gas dropped 4.3 percent to 4.4 billion cubic meters from a year earlier, according to data published today on the website of the State Statistics Committee in the capital, Baku. No reason was given for the declines.
The BP Plc-led Caspian field of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli, Azerbaijan’s largest, cut production 7 percent last year to 32.9 million tons, the Baku office of the U.K. producer said March 1.
Azerbaijan produced 43 million tons of oil in 2012, down 5.3 percent, the committee said on Jan. 22. Production of marketable gas expanded 5.4 percent to 17.2 cubic meters.
The country exports gas to Russia, Georgia and Turkey.
