King’s Son-in-Law Urdangarin to Take Qatar Job, El Pais Reports

April 8 (Bloomberg) -- Inaki Urdangarin, the son-in-law of King Juan Carlos of Spain, will take a job coaching handball in Qatar, El Pais reported.

Urdangarin, a former Olympic handball player, will work alongside the Spanish coach Valero Rivera training the Qatari national team and may be joined by his wife, Princess Cristina, and their four children at the end of the school year, the newspaper said, without saying how it obtained the information.

The king’s advisers spoke to Qatari officials to secure the position for Urdangarin, who is the focus of an investigation into his business activities by a court in Mallorca, El Pais added.

A spokesman for the royal family declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg. Urdangarin’s lawyer Marius Pascual Vives declined to comment through an assistant.
