April 4 (Bloomberg) -- Fernando Torres scored two goals as Chelsea defeated Rubin Kazan 3-1 in their Europa League soccer quarterfinal opener.
Victor Moses also scored at Stamford Bridge in west London as Chelsea takes a two-goal advantage into the return match in Moscow on April 11.
Tottenham rallied for a 2-2 home draw with Basel, Benfica beat Newcastle 3-1 and Fenerbahce defeated Lazio 2-0, scoring both goals after Ogenyi Onazi was sent off for a second yellow card. Basel, Newcastle and Lazio host the second legs, also in seven days.
