March 30 (Bloomberg) -- Duke University defeated Michigan State University 71-61 to advance to the regional finals at the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.
Duke guard Seth Curry scored a game-high 29 points as the Blue Devils used a 9-0 run in the middle of the second half to pull away from the Spartans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Duke advances to the Midwest regional final on March 31 in Indianapolis, facing the Louisville Cardinals who beat Oregon earlier in the evening. It will be the 13th regional finals appearance for Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who has led the Blue Devils to the Final Four 11 times.
Elsewhere in the NCAA tournament, Michigan beat Kansas in overtime and will face the winner of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast in the South regional final.
