No Evidence Anyone Involved in Berezovsky’s Death, Police Say

March 24 (Bloomberg) -- There is no evidence to suggest any third party involvement in the death of Russian national Boris Berezovsky, whose body has been found at his U.K. home, police said.

Berezovsky, 67, was found dead yesterday at the property in Ascot, near London, Thames Valley Police said in a statement on its website, adding that the death remains “unexplained.”

“We are at the early stages of the investigation and we are retaining an open mind as we progress,” Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Brown, deputy senior investigating officer in the case, said in a statement today.

According to the police, an employee of Berezovsky said he called the ambulance service after becoming concerned for the Russian’s welfare, having not seen him since late on March 22. The employee said that he forced open the bathroom door which was locked from the inside and discovered the body on the floor.

“The investigation team are building a picture of the last days of Mr Berezovsky’s life, speaking to close friends and family to gain a better understanding of his state of mind,” Brown said. “It would be wrong to speculate on the cause of death until the post mortem has been carried out. We do not have any evidence at this stage to suggest third party involvement.”
