March 12 (Bloomberg) -- Barcelona beat AC Milan 4-0 to claim a place in the Champions League soccer quarterfinals, while Galatasary advanced with a 3-2 win at Schalke.
Lionel Messi scored two goals to help Barcelona to a 4-2 win over two matches in the round of 16. Hamit Altintop, Burak Yilmaz and Umut Bulut scored as Galatasaray completed a 4-3 series win in Germany.
Barcelona and Galatasaray join Real Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition. The remaining two quarterfinalists will be determined tomorrow.
