March 9 (Bloomberg) -- Deron Williams scored a season-high 42 points, including a National Basketball Association record nine 3-pointers in the first half, to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 95-78 win over the Washington Wizards.

Williams hit 33 points in the first half on his home court at Barclays Center, match the Wizards team scoring. Williams added two 3-pointers in the second half to end the game one shy of the NBA record of 12 held by Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall.

Reggie Evans had 11 points and 24 rebounds and Brook Lopez added 11 points for the Nets, who had a 59-33 halftime advantage last night.

John Wall scored 16 points and Nenê added 11 for the Wizards.

The Nets (36-26) are in second place in the Eastern Conference’s five-team Atlantic Division, 2 ½ games behind the New York Knicks (37-22). The Wizards (19-41) hold third place in the conference’s Southeast Division, 27 games behind the Miami Heat (46-14), who clinched a playoff spot by topping the Philadelphia 76ers 102-93 for their 17th straight victory.
