Real Madrid Defeats Barcelona for Second Time in Five Days

March 2 (Bloomberg) -- Real Madrid defeated Barcelona for the second time in five days, as Sergio Ramos’s goal in the 81st minute handed the Spanish soccer leader a 2-1 loss.

Karim Benzema also scored for Madrid, which beat Barcelona 3-1 in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey on Feb. 26. Lionel Messi scored in his 16th straight La Liga match for Barcelona. It was his 18th goal in the matchup known as “El Classico” to tie the record set by Madrid’s Alfredo di Stefano.

Barcelona is still 12 points ahead second-place Atletico Madrid, which plays Malaga tomorrow, while Real Madrid moved to within 13 points of the league leader.
