Top-Ranked Indiana Falls to Minnesota in College Basketball

Indiana University lost 77-73 to the University of Minnesota, the seventh time a top-ranked team has been beaten this season in men’s college basketball.

The Hoosiers have now lost three times as the nation’s No. 1 team to an unranked competitor this season, matching Michigan in 1964-65 and Arizona in 2002-03, according to ESPN.

Indiana held a 34-30 halftime advantage before being outscored 47-39 in the second half at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.

Trevor Mbakwe had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Gophers. Andre Hollins scored 16 points and Joe Coleman added nine for Minnesota (19-9 overall, 7-8 Big Ten).

Jordan Hulls scored 17 points and Victor Oladipo contributed 16 for the Hoosiers (24-4, 12-3 Big Ten).
