Feb. 27 (Bloomberg) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said his two nominees for the state Supreme Court would let him cut spending by changing how education is funded.

Christie, a first-term Republican seeking re-election in November, said at a town-hall meeting in Montville today that he blames Senate President Stephen Sweeney for the standoff that has kept him from filling open seats on the bench.

The high court ordered Christie in 2011 to restore some of his school-aid cuts. The governor said today that most of the increase in K-12 education spending in his fiscal 2014 budget will go to the 31 poorest districts that operate under a court order to spend more there.
