Feb. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Mason Plumlee and Quinn Cook had 18 points apiece to lead second-ranked Duke University to a 73-68 victory against the University of North Carolina in men’s college basketball.
In other games involving top-five teams, No. 1 Indiana defeated Nebraska 76-47 and No. 3 Miami won 74-68 at Florida State.
Duke, which trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, improved to 22-2 overall and 9-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play with last night’s victory on coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 66th birthday.
P.J. Hairston had 23 points for North Carolina (16-8 overall, 6-5 ACC), which missed 10 of its 23 free throws in the game at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
