New York Knicks’ Smith Scores 25 in 120-81 Rout of NBA Kings

Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- J.R. Smith scored 25 points and Amar’e Stoudemire was 10-for-10 to help the New York Knicks rout the Sacramento Kings 120-81 for their fourth consecutive National Basketball Association win.

The Knicks improved to 30-15 to share the Eastern Conference lead with the Miami Heat and stay atop the five-team Atlantic Division, three games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets.

Stoudemire added 21 points and reserve Steve Novak contributed 15 at Madison Square Garden. Starter Tyson Chandler had 11 points and 20 rebounds, while Carmelo Anthony was held to nine points.

The Knicks had a three-point lead after the first quarter and then outscored the Kings 31-11 in the second to hold a 56-33 halftime advantage. New York continued to overwhelm the Kings in the third quarter, scoring 41 points to the Kings’ 19.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 25 points and Jimmer Fredette added 14 as the Kings fell to 17-32 to stay in fourth place in the Western Conference’s five-team Pacific Division, 17 ½ games behind the Los Angeles Clippers.
