Ireland Beats Defending Champ Wales 30-22 in Six Nations Rugby

Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Ireland held on to defeat defending champion Wales 30-22 in the opening game of rugby union’s Six Nations Championship

Tries from Simon Zebo, Cian Healy and Brian O’Driscoll helped Ireland to a 30-3 lead early in the second half at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Alex Cuthbert, Leigh Halfpenny and Craig Mitchell then touched down as Wales rallied before falling short.

Jonathan Sexton kicked three penalties and three conversions to finish with 15 points for the Iriah, while Halfpenny added a penalty and two conversions to his try.

England plays Scotland in today’s second game at Twickenham Stadium in London.
