Gran Tierra Confirms Kidnapping of Colombian Contractors

Jan. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Three contractors providing services to Gran Tierra Energy Inc. were “illegally detained” in the Putumayo Basin in southern Colombia, the company said today in a statement on PR Newswire.

RCN Radio cited a local government official who said the three workers were kidnapped by guerrillas from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Gran Tierra is a Calgary-based oil producer, with operations in Colombia and Argentina. The company has early stage exploration operations in Cauca, according to a presentation on its website.
