Jan. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s health is improving daily, and he has complete control of his mental faculties, Technology Minister Jorge Arreaza said today on state television.
Chavez, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer in Cuba, is making decisions for the South American country, Arreaza, who is Chavez’s son-in-law, said.
“Comandante Chavez is constantly reflecting, making decisions, and when we hold work meetings, giving instructions and orders,” said Arreaza.
The Venezuelan leader, who continues to have breathing problems, has not been seen or heard in public since he had a fourth cancer surgery in Cuba on Dec. 11. The former paratrooper’s health has recovered sufficiently to make economic policy decisions, Vice President Nicolas Maduro said on Jan. 26.
