Polish Power for Saturday Delivery Declines as Imports Rise

Polish electricity for Saturday declined as the country was set to import cheaper power from its neighbors.

Power for tomorrow fell 3.8 percent from a week ago to 175.20 zloty ($56.03) a megawatt-hour, exchange data compiled by Bloomberg show.

Poland was set to become a net importer of 521 megawatts of electricity from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, compared to net exports of 870 megawatts at the same time a week earlier. The country was set to import power from the Czech Republic and Germany, and receive more electricity from Ukraine, data from the power grid manager PSE SA showed.

Day-ahead electricity on the coupled markets of the Czech Republic and Slovakia slumped 17 percent to 37.71 euros ($50.17) a megawatt-hour in a daily auction, according to the countries’ market operators. Hungarian day-ahead power dropped 24 percent to 37.98 euros a megawatt-hour.

German power for tomorrow fell 21 percent from a week earlier to 37 euros a megawatt-hour, broker data on Bloomberg showed.
