Jan. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Harlequins, Toulon and Clermont Auvergne maintained their perfect records after five matches to qualify for the Heineken Cup rugby quarterfinals.
Harlequins routed Connact 48-7 in Pool 3, Toulon beat Cardiff Blues 45-25 to qualify from Pool 6 and Clermont won Pool 5 with a 46-3 win over Exeter. The six pool winners and two best second-place teams after six games advance to the knockout rounds of Europe’s elite club competition.
Defending champion Leinster beat the Scarlets 33-14 to stay alive in Pool 5, Saracens beat Racing Metro 37-28 to lead Pool 1 and Biarretz remained second in Pool 3 with a 32-6 win over Zebre.
Ultser, last season’s runner-up, became the first team to reach the quarterfinals by beating Glasgow 23-6 last night in Pool 4.
