Algeria Wheat Imports Drop 17 Percent in First 11 Months of 2012

Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Algeria’s wheat imports declined to 5.7 million metric tons from 6.9 million tons in the first 11 months of this year, according to customs data.

Of the total, 4.2 million tons was soft wheat, and the remainder was the durum variety, the customs service said in a monthly report.

Algeria harvested 5.1 million tons of wheat this year compared with 4.2 million tons in 2011, the Ministry of Agriculture said Oct. 7.
