Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Kyle Van Noy scored on a fumble recovery and an interception return and Brigham Young University had three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter for a 23-6 defeat of San Diego State University in college football’s Poinsettia Bowl.

Van Noy sacked Adam Dingwell early in the final period and recovered the fumble in the end zone as Brigham Young took a 10-6 lead. Jamaal Williams rushed for a 14-yard touchdown 17 seconds later before Van Noy intercepted Dingwell on the San Diego 17 and ran it back for a score.

Dingwell gave up the ball three times to interceptions while completing 11 of 29 passing attempts for 144 yards. The Aztecs also fumbled twice.

Cougars quarterback James Lark completed 23-of-42 passes for 244 yards, with two interceptions.

San Diego’s Chance Marden kicked field goals of 27 yards and 23 yards in the first half and Brigham Young’s Justin Sorensen had a 23-yarder to end the half 6-3 in the Aztecs’ favor at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
