Ethanol Output in U.S. Fell 0.2% to 822,000 Barrels a Day

Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Ethanol production in the U.S. fell 0.2 percent to 822,000 barrels a day last week.

Output declined for a second week in the period ended Dec. 14 to the lowest level since Nov. 23, an Energy Department report showed today. Stockpiles climbed 4 percent to 20.8 million barrels, the highest since June 15.

Imports increased to 37,000 barrels a day from 12,000 the previous week, the department said. Ethanol-blended gasoline made up about 93 percent of the total U.S. gasoline pool, up from 90 percent in the week ended Dec. 7.

Denatured ethanol for January delivery fell 0.5 cent to $2.25 a gallon on the Chicago Board of Trade. The futures have climbed 2.1 percent this year.
