Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Kerwynn Williams ran for three touchdowns to help Utah State University beat the University of Toledo 41-15 in college football’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise yesterday.
Williams gained 235 yards on 18 carries for Utah State (11-2), which won a bowl game for the first time since 1993. Quarterback Chuckie Keeton completed 21 of 31 passes for 227 yards, while running for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Bernard Reedy returned a fourth-quarter kickoff 87 yards for the Rockets’ only touchdown. Reedy had 50 yards rushing and caught six passes for 62 yards for Toledo (9-4).
In other college football action, quarterback Matt Scott threw two touchdown passes in the final 46 seconds as the University of Arizona (8-5) beat the University of Nevada 49-48 in the New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque.
Scott completed 28 of 47 passes for 382 yards, two interceptions and three touchdowns in the game, including a two-yard throw to Tyler Slavin with 19 seconds remaining for the winning score. Ka’Deem Carey added 172 yards and three touchdowns.
Stefphon Jefferson ran for 180 yards with two touchdowns on 34 carries for Nevada (7-6).
