Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Mexican club Monterrey beat South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai 3-1 today to set up a semifinal against European soccer champion Chelsea at the Club World Cup in Japan.
Cesar Delgado got two goals, while Jesus Corona also scored for Monterrey in Toyota. It will face Champions League winner Chelsea in Yokohama on Dec. 13.
Egypt’s Al-Ahly also advanced following a 2-1 victory against Japanese club Sanfrecce Hiroshima. It faces Corinthians of Brazil on Dec. 12 in Toyota.
Chelsea is aiming to give Europe a sixth straight title at the annual competition, which is contested by the champions of each continent’s soccer federation. Sanfrecce Hiroshima also qualified this year as winner of the host nation’s J League.
The final is on Dec. 16.
