Stanford Wins Pac-12 Title Game With 27-24 Victory Over UCLA

Jordan Williamson kicked a 36-yard field goal to break a tie and give No. 8 Stanford University a 27-24 win against 16th-ranked University of California, Los Angeles in the Pac-12 Conference college football championship game.

Stanford improved to 11-2 overall with its home victory last night at Stanford Stadium. The Cardinal will play the winner of the Big Ten title game between Nebraska and Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.

The Cardinal had a 17-14 halftime advantage on short scoring runs by Kevin Hogan and Stepfan Taylor and a 37-yard field goal by Williamson. Johnathan Franklin ran 51 yards for a score and Brett Hundley had a five-yard touchdown run for the Bruins in the first half.

Franklin scored his second touchdown of the game on a 20-yard run and Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked a 31-yard field goal as UCLA (9-4) dominated the third quarter for a 24-17 lead.

Hogan connected with Drew Terrell on a 26-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter to tie the game and Williamson added his decisive kick for the Cardinal midway through the period.

Hogan completed 16 of 22 passing attempts for 153 yards and UCLA’s Hundley connected on 26 of 34 passes for 182 yards and one interception. Franklin ran for 201 yards on 18 carries.
