China Says Singapore Should Safeguard Rights of Chinese Workers

Nov. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Singapore should “earnestly safeguard” the lawful rights of Chinese workers arrested for their role in labor protests.

Singapore should deal with the sitution in a prudent manner, Hong said today at a regular breifing in Beijing. Four Chinese citizens were charged in a court yesterday with instigating SMRT Corp. bus drivers to take part in an illegal strike this week, according to court filings.
