Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points as the New York Knicks beat the Milwaukee Bucks 102-88 to snap a three-game road losing streak in the National Basketball Association.
The Knicks are tied for first place in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division with the Brooklyn Nets, who beat the Boston Celtics 95-83 last night to also improve to 10-4.
Steve Novak came off the bench to score 19 points for the Knicks and Tyson Chandler added 17 at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. New York played its second game without point guard Jason Kidd, who has been sidelined by back spasms.
Brandon Jennings and Beno Udrih each scored 18 points, while Monta Ellis added 17 for the Bucks, who fell to 7-6.
Also last night, the Washington Wizards won for the first time in 13 attempts this season, 84-82 against the visiting Portland Trail Blazers.
Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge hit a 21-foot jumper to tie the score at 82-82 with one minute, 45 seconds left at Verizon Center in Washington. Emeka Okafor put the Wizards ahead for good with two free throws with 39 seconds left.
The Trail Blazers dropped to 6-9.
